Football Season and the New Dud's

Mckay is going to play football this fall and he starts in two weeks. I have received about five emails from his coach informing me of the 2 hour practices twice a week (in which we need to arrive fifteen minutes early so that we can get started on time), the attire that should be worn, and his football coaching strategies. I think we may be in a little over our heads. Mckay is so excited and so for family home evening last night we went to Dick's to by his attire (I know very spiritual). Many dad's were there getting their supplies for the upcoming football season. I just laughed watching these dads outfit their boys. Many were making their boys run laps around the store to make sure the cleats were perfect. Another father and son were arguing over football pants, which was comical. My husband, although not to the same degree, was included in this frenzy. If you know Jason, he has to have the best, never skimps when it come to sporting equipment and loves outfitting my kids for sporting events. So, after we bought mouth guards, a cup, football pants with pads, football cleats, football socks, and football gloves we left the store way over budget and with two happy boys (Jason and Mckay). Mckay was so excited that when we came home he had to try on all his gear. I have to admit he did look cute in all his gear, I just hope he plays as good as he looks. After we got him all decked out we played a little football outside. The whole family got involved. Beckham was sweating profusely and even Mckinley ran a few plays. You gotta love Football season!!

Round 2 of home improvements

So we are finally getting done with all the projects on our house. Last week the Barney's flew into town so that we could finish our tiling in the kitchen and half bath. So while they were here we decided to bead board Mckay's room and put up a chair rail and some Wayne's coating in the dining room. We also painted almost every room. I think we were all exhausted but, it ended out looking really good. Here are some pictures of the process.

Sorry some of the pictures are so dark. Beckham is sleeping so I couldn't take pictures of Mckay's room. I will save that for another post. I still haven't put up all our pictures and I haven't gotten everything done so I will add more pictures when I get done with it all. If I ever get it done. 4th of July

We have been a little busy that the fourth of July sneaked upon us. We had no real plans for the day so we took the kids to see Kung Fu Panda. Jack Black was hilarious and the kids had a great time. Beckham yelled "Panda" the entire show so, I am sure no one else enjoyed it. That evening we were invited over to some ward members house for a BBQ and fireworks. It was fun to meet other couples from the ward and to get acquainted with them. I even found a few runners in the crowd and I have found me a new running partner for a couple days a week. My ward has been so friendly. This week we have had the bishopric over and three ladies from the ward have called to have the kids come play or have invited us over. It is such a comfort to have the church and have immediate friends. I have also joined the YMCA and we have been busy going there to swim and workout. I am really starting to feel at home and I am really enjoying the area and my time out here so far.

Here are some pictures of the day. The movie clips are funny. Beckham wasn't to sure about the fireworks. He kept saying "scary". He never cried but, as you can see he was a little unsure of them.

To clear up any concerns that Jason and I are becoming Hoosier fans-- We definitely will not be Hoosier fans. Jason is a devout Buckeye who bleeds scarlet and grey. We have been excited to move to the Midwest to get a little closer to the BIG 10 and watch the Buckeyes and he and Mike are already talking about a trip to Florida! We will never be traitors to our Buckeyes.

Last Few Weeks in UTah, Road Trip to Indiana, and we have landed in Hoosier Country

The last few weeks before we moved we were homeless living with family in Utah and Grand Junction. The time seemed to fly by and we were so busy saying our last goodbyes to friends and family. I will always cherish these last couple of weeks. Here are a few of the highlights.

Lunch with UVSC Cheer Friends It has been almost 10years since I have seen some of these girls. It was so fun to reminisce with them and laugh about old memories. We seemed to reconnect so well just like we were in college. We definitely need to get together more often.

Visit with Grandma Beth We don't know how much longer we will have Grandma Beth around so we decided we better go see her before we leave to Indiana. She looked so good and was so interactive with the kids.


Trip to the Zoo with Ohio Friends it was good to see my best friends from Ohio. It has been so nice to stay in touch with them and to get together. I am looking forward to Christmas when we can get together again.


BYU Football Camp Mckay had fun going to BYU football camp, DONS baseball camp and Rocky Mountain Baseball camp with his cousins and friends.



Trip to the Spanish Fork Reservoir



Drive Across Country, Nauvoo, Carthage and Liberty Jail Jason's mom and dad made the long journey with us so we made a few stops along the way to take in some church sites. As soon as we closed on our house we were busy laying Traver tine in two bathrooms and the entryway. The house had carpet (yuck) in the bathrooms so it has made a huge difference.

We have also been busy painting. I still have a lot more painting to do but, it has been fun experimenting and seeing the results. I will post more of the house as soon as I am finished piecing it all together, which might take some time. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Barney for helping us drive out our car and for helping us do an Extreme Makeover to the house in two days. Also, thanks to Grandma Marilynn for flying Beckham out on the plane and for also lending her skills.

WE have been in Indiana about 10 days. At church last Sunday I was talking about The Ohio State Buckeyes and someone informed me that we were in Hoosier country now. Well I hope I adjust to Hoosier country. We are liking it so far. I am a little homesick for my friends and family but, I will adjust and that is the purpose of cell phones and blogging.

Mckay Turns 8 and is Baptized

It seems like we have been celebrating Mckay's birthday the past month. But, on June 12th he finally had his real birthday. This was his special birthday, turning 8 he was able to be baptized. We were able to baptize him in Grand Junction last Saturday. He was so excited but, a little nervous. He looked so grown up and so handsome. He seemed to glow and he continually gave me hugs and told me he was so happy. It was so nice to have the support of family and friends. Many traveled from Utah and we were grateful for their efforts. It was a neat day.

Mckinley's Dance Review

About a week ago Mckinley had her dance review. She did a dance from the "Bee" movie. She loves wearing her costume, performing, and getting roses after her performance. Jason snoozed during the dance review (except for Mckinleys dance of course) and I loved every minute of it.

Friday Night Baseball

Friday we went to McKay's baseball game and he got to pitch for the second time. Mckay was so excited and wanted me to take pictures. The first part of the season they played machine pitch and then at the end of the season they have started having the boys pitch. I was a little worried at first thinking this was going to be a little dangerous but, the boys have done really well and there's only been a few casualties. Mckay has really liked pitching and it feels like they're finally playing exciting baseball games. I am a nervous wreck when he pitches, afraid he is going to hit the batter or throw wild pitches. He hasn't done too bad and I am thinking that pitching might be his thing. Mckay also got two good hits and I caught one on tape. Sorry for my lack of skill in the camera department. I get a little excited and then the camera goes all over the place.

Beckham found this tractor and he loved driving it in the dirt.
After the game we went to Hot Tomato, a local pizza hot spot in Fruita, with friends and family.
Beckham was being his wild self and was entertaining us all. And no I haven't gone off the deep end and dyed my hair purple, it just looks that way in this picture for some odd reason.
We looked over and found Beckham looking at the Better Homes magazine. I guess he was trying to find us a house. We just laughed at him and he kept pointing at the pictures and saying "house", "house".

Beckham and Sadie

Beckham and Sadie (my sisters dog) have a love-hate relationship. Beckham loves to play fetch with her but, gets mad when Sadie takes the ball. Sadie knows that Beckham gets upset so she teases him with the ball. Beckham loves to retaliate and hold Sadie's tail and shoot at her with the Nerf gun. The dog-child interaction has been so funny to watch. Beckham just loves sadie and he says "adie", "adie" (he can't say his S's) but, he also doesn't like Sadie taking away any of his attention. The other day Beckham was in the tub and Sadie was just watching Beckham throw water all over and blow bubbles in the tub.
Beckham was having so much fun in the tub that I couldn't get him out. Sadie decided to jump in the tub with him. Beckham didn't want to share his tub with Sadie and he immediately wanted out.

Mckinley's Last T-ball Game

McKinley played her last T-ball game last night and I wanted to share a few pictures of her. She has loved T-ball. I, however am a little glad it is over. T-ball is a little slow and boring to watch. Mckinley seemed to enjoy every minute of it and she helped make it a little more entertaining with her aggressive play. Her coach was amazed that she could hit and throw as good or even better than the boys. We weren't surprised Mckinley is our feisty, competitive girl.
