Girls Weekend in Steamboat Springs

Last Weekend seven girls and I went to Steamboat Springs for a girls getaway and celebrate my 30th birthday. We had such a good time swimming and laying out, sitting in the hot tub, shopping, eating, talking and laughing really hard.
I couldn't of asked for a better birthday present from my husband (Jason because he stayed home with the kids) and friends.
My sister Michelle and friend Suzy spearheaded this all and they had everything planned so well. The hotel was so nice and Steamboat is beautiful.
We are definitely planning another girls weekend in the spring.

It is rare that Jason mows the lawn so I had to take a picture. Unlike most men Jason hates to mow the lawn. I finally insisted that he mow it when the grass in the backyard was almost to the kids knees.
Beckham loves to drive Mckinley's jeep. Every morning he scream to go sit in the Jeep. He turns on the music and Jams out. On this day he was watching Jason mow the lawn.

First Day of School

Mckay had his first day of first grade on Monday and Mckinley her first day of kindergarten today. They were all decked out in new school clothes and new backpacks, so I ceased the moment to take some good pictures. Mckay has a really good teacher, Mrs. Irion, and Mckinley has Mckay's student teacher, Mrs. K, from last year. Mckay loves that he has three recesses this year and that he gets to take a spiderman lunch bag. Mckinley loves that all her friends are in her class and that she finally gets to do everything Mckay did last year. She came home today and said, "mom I just did a few projects but, they didn't send home any site words" (Mckay studied site words every night last year). Mckinley wanted homework her first night. I was a little sad to see my little Mckinley go to Kindergarten and have Mckay gone all day but, a few moments of peace in quiet in my house cured that. I was definitely ready for school to start and I kind of think my kids were ready as well.

Beckham's One Year Checkup and Haircut

So we finally got Beckham in for his one year checkup. He didn't really cooperate with the doctor and decided he would rather crawl all over the dirty floor then sit and be examined. The nurse and I practically had to wrestle him down to give him the shots. Beckham is still not walking and it might be a while. Beckham has developed a little attitude over the past month. He has discovered his voice and enjoys screaming and throwing all objects. Beckham is still steady with his growth and he is in the 95th percentile in height, weight, and head size. Jason and I are baffled, how we of all people have this gigantic boy??? I am sure it will slow down soon (at least his weight, I hope). Yesterday we got Beckhams haircut. I have cut it before,but the stylist did such a great job and he looked so cute. It is not exactly easy to cut a moving, screaming target but, with the help of squirt bottles, ice, and cookies we managed.

Erickson Reunion

While in Utah over the weekend we were able to participate in the Erickson famiy reunion. It was fun to see my grandma Beth, for we do not know how much longer we will have her. It was also good to see cousins and aunts and uncles that we seldom see. I put on a few cute pictures from the reunion. I also put on some of Beckham in the car on the drie home, he was such a mess (anything to keep them happy). Jason and I with a big group of runners from Grand Junction, CO ran the Provo River Half on Saturday. I hadn't ran it for some time and it was really fun. Hopefully it will prep us for the big St.George marathon in October. Running, Running, and more Running is all I seem to be doing as of late.

Temple Trip

We had the privilege last weekend of attending the temple with good friends. Our friends, the Keith's, were baptized in the church about a year ago and after a year were able to go through the temple. We went to the Timpanogas Temple Friday and then Saturday they were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple. The spirit was strong as the two little girls, all dressed in white, were sealed to their mom and dad. This was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. I truly feel blessed to have been able to witness their conversion and to have such great friends.

Beckham turned one on yesterday, August 8th. It was kind of a neat day because Jason's brother Tyler also received his mission call to Buenos Aires, Argentina ( I am a little unsure of the spelling). we will always remember that Ty;er got his mission call on Beckham's first birthday.

Beckham had a great birthday. We had a little get together on Monday night with friends and family for cake and ice cream. Beckham loved all the attention. I should of known that he would devour the cake, I mean the doctor doesn't call him chunky monkey for nothing (he loves to eat). Our friends got him his favorite things--- Oreo's, red vines, and balls. We got him a new little buggy to drive. He loves it and is very possessive of it. I can't believe it has been a year since he was born. He is so fun and he has added so much to our family. Happy Birthday Beckham!!!

Softball Tournament in Silverton, CO

Jason has been reliving his glory days playing in a few softball tournaments this summer. He has really enjoyed playing with this group of guys and being competitive. I haven't been going to the tournaments, because I don't want to chase and entertain Beckham through numerous softball games. After a few guilt trips from Jason and a few of his softball friends, I decided I would venture to one of these tournaments. The tournament was in Silverton, CO, an old mining town up in the mountains. The scenery was beautiful and the town was historic but, there was little to do in a town whose population is only 25 in the winter time. Being in the mountains, it rained the entire weekend and got a little chilly. But, that doesn't stop die hard softball players, they played in the mud. The field (yes there was only one field, that made the Fruita fields look immaculate) was so Gross and at times it looked more like slip and slide. I was wishing for a loss so we could go home and that never happened until the championship game. They lost to a team from Farmington, NM. After a cold miserable day we left to go home and the mountain pass to go home had been closed due to mud slides. We ended up driving through Durango and up through Moab to get home (adding 3 more hours). We definitely felt like the Griswald's on Family Vacation and I told Jason, that was my last softball tournament.
