Relaxing Weekend in Aspen

Jason and I have reached the big 10 year mark (as far a marriage goes). Jason and I have dated and known each other before the ninth grade. Most people find it amusing that Jason and I have know each other since our teenage years. It is amazing how time goes by so fast. It seems like yesterday, I was cheering at one of Jason's high school basketball games or watching Jason play baseball at UVSC. Oh where does the time go???
Our lives have changed in so many aspects since July 31st 1997. We have lived in three different states, had various jobs, completed bachelor degrees, survived Dental school, bought our first home, survived two years of private practice, and have three amazing children. The past 10 years have been filled with many memories and adventure. I look forward to many great years to come. Life is a journey and I am grateful to share this journey with Jason.

My sister Becky offered to watch our kids, so we headed up to Aspen for the weekend. It was so beautiful. Jason did get the flu on Saturday, which put a little damper on the trip. We were still able to shop, ride mountain bikes, and hike. Thanks Becky and Grandma Pat for watching the kids.

Spanish Fork Fiesta Days 2007

Even though, I feel like our family has been going 100 miles an hour, we couldn't miss the 24th of July in Spanish Fork. We went up last Monday and enjoyed the city of Spanish Fork's festivities. We started the day with the local 10K race, The Speedy Spaniard. This race was a family affair with my dad, sister Michelle, sister-in-law Jammie, and brother-in-law Tyler all running. We had a great time and I even received my first pay check for all my running endeavors ( a big whopping $20.00). I saw so many friends at the 10k, it was good to talk and catch up with old friends. We then hit the parade and even the City of Fun Carnival. The kids had a blast. Jamie and I through our little boys on the Zipper, they immediately wanted kiddie rides after that. We had a luncheon at the Barney's and my kids went to the play Suesical (I think that is what it is called) with my parents. We ended the night with the local firework show. We love to go to the ball fields and just let the kids run around and listen to the loud music. The Spanish Fork Fiesta Days definitely didn't disappoint.

I ended my stay by visiting with old friends from Ohio. It was so good to see Tiffany, Teresa, and Marli. It was like we had never been apart. Tiffany and I ventured to IKEA and then met up with Teresa and Marli to talk and let the kids play. We ended the night with dinner.

Turning 30

So I finally reached the 30 year mark on July 22nd. I was kind of dreading the big 30 but, it hasn't been too bad so far. I had a great birthday. Jason took me out to dinner the night before and the kids gave me back rubs (even Beckham took part in the back rubs). My birthday was on Sunday so we got a big group together and hiked up Rattle Snake Arches. We had to four wheel drive in (my dad wasn't thrilled about the scary ride) and then hike about a mile and half or so. It was an amazing view and I can't believe that this is right in our back yard. It was so nice to have so many nice phone calls and emails from friends and family. My friends here are taking me to Steamboat for a nice girls weekend in August, I am so excited. It is times like this that I feel truly blessed to have great friends and family, thanks everyone for making 30 not so bad.

Mckinley's Spa Birthday Party

Last Friday we had Mckinley's birthday party. Last Christmas Jason gave her and I a gift certificate to get manicures and she loved it, so I thought it would be fun for us to have a Spa party. We did manicures, pedicures, and my neighbor across the street (who is a hair dresser) did all the girls hair in curls. They all looked so cute and they had a lot of fun. I can't believe my little Mckinley is already five. She was so excited for her birthday this year. It was fun to see her get so excited about every detail.

Great Moments at the Barney House

During Beckhams naptime, he likes to poop. However, this time there was a leakage. Poop was all over his crib, crib bumper, quilt, and pillow. I walked in there and he just laughed. All I could do was laugh. Mckinley helped hold him down so that we could get a picture. I know it is a little grose but, every child has a great pooping story.So Beckham's has turned into our little baseball player ( with no help from his father). Some of his first words are ball and bat. This last week or so he has started to swing the bat. I am going to have a few dents on my walls. He also loves to play catch with Jason and throw the ball into the mit.
Beckham has turned into a little streaker. After tubs or diaper changes he runs away and wont let me put his diaper on. This past week he started to take a few steps, with assistance. This is a big accomplishment for him because he doesn't like to put a whole lot of weight on his feet.
Mckinley turned five on July 16th. Mckay got her a hot pink T-ball bat and some pink batting gloves. She loved it and had to test them out. On Monday we went and ate at Outback (her favorite place) as a family and later in the week she had a Spa Birthday party. I will post more pictures of the party later.

4th of July in Richfield, UT

For the fourth of July we went to Richfield, UT. As a child my summers were full of trips to see Grandma Beth and working on the farm in Richfield. So many of my fourth of July memories revolve around going to Richfield and participating in the town celebration there. It was fun to share these memories with my children and cultivate new memories. My grandma Beth no longer lives in Richfield due to health reasons so, it just didn't seem the same not having her around. But, we reminisced over good times with Grandma Beth and laughed at her funny yet stubborn personality.

The fourth of July day started out with the local 5K race. Jason and I didn't want to run but with pressure from my dad we caved in. It actually turned out OK. I ended up winning the all around girls division and a forty dollar prize and Jason ran a pretty good time, so in the end we were happy. However, I would've liked to beat Jason. Next time I will get him. We then went to the parade and the kids loved getting a lot of candy and running down the streets, chasing the floats. The kids then played in the park and did the whole carnival thing.

We ended the afternoon with a BBQ at my Grandma Beth's and let the kids play in the yard. Watching the kids play I remembered the memories of playing with my cousins in that yard. I remember the countless baseball games, running through the sprinklers, sleep outs, sipping on Punch bags from the local dairy, and all the imaginary play. Those were great memories.

We ended the night with a visit to the farm so the kids could drive the truck and see the cows. Beckham liked the cows. We then went to my Dad's friend HR's house to watch the local firework show. Beckham didn't really care about the fireworks he just wanted to eat popcorn and climb the stairs. Mckay loved the Sparklers and Mckinley loved all the excitement.

It was such a good time and I had fun remembering days of my childhood.

Oreo Cookies, Baseball, and Good Friends

Beckham has discovered Oreo cookies. The bad thing is, they make such a mess. The pictures are evidence of this.




Over the weekend we went to my nephew Riley's game and Beckham had to be in the cage with all the boys. He loves bats and of course every kind of ball. I got some pictures of the kids playing.

It was a fun trip to Utah. We got to have lunch with Darren and Shelley on Saturday and see their new baby. I got to go to the mall with Tiffany, like old times in Ohio. Jamie my sister-in-law and I shuttled kids to camps and hung out at the park. We just love our Utah friends and miss them dearly.
